Isla del Sol - Lake Titicaca - Bolivia

Isla del Sol – Lake Titicaca – Bolivia

La Isla del Sol is located in the Bolivian part of Lake Titicaca. Lake Titicaca is as big as a sea – more than 8,000 square kilometers, and is the highest navigable lake in the world (3,800 meters above sea level). La Isla del Sol is an enchanting and remote place that can be covered on foot in an easy trek within a day. You walk along some stretches along a magnificent coast. The water of the lake surrounding the island is crystal clear and turquoise. We then walk through it, meeting peasants, lamas and pre-Columbian votive altars. From the Isla del Sol you can see the Andes in the background, 20 kilometers apart.
