{"id":23284,"date":"2002-09-15T00:21:25","date_gmt":"2002-09-14T22:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aguaplano.org\/?p=23284"},"modified":"2018-02-17T13:14:16","modified_gmt":"2018-02-17T12:14:16","slug":"peru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aguaplano.org\/en\/peru\/","title":{"rendered":"Peru"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.0.47&#8243;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;3.0.47&#8243; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;3.0.47&#8243; parallax=&#8221;off&#8221; parallax_method=&#8221;on&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.0.73&#8243; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Peru: the sky of the Incas<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Coming by bus from La Paz, we stopped around Lake Titicaca, one of the natural wonders of this region (imagine a lake so big that you can\u2019t see the other side at 3.800 m \/ 12.467 ft of altitude), then on to Machu Picchu (a dream come true!), then on to Cuzco, Arequipa and finally to the Pacific Coast with it\u2019s marvellous marine reserve of Islas Ballestas and last but not least the mystery of the Nazca Lines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Although these are among the most visited<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>places in the world, they still retain some mystery even when you\u2019re packed in a train with hundreds of Gringos like you. Going from Aguas Calientes (the last village on the train trail) to Machu Picchu, we were wondering if we would be disappointed by this place we had seen so many times in pictures<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>and documentaries. But as soon as we made the last steps of the trail and looked down to the lost city, our heart missed a beat or two. Machu Picchu site is unbelievable as if it was painted by Magritte: the horse-shoe shaped valley is divided right in the meddle by the tall peak overlooking the city. The far distant mountain on the back are always covered in mist, and everything around is green.
