Next destination: Mongolia, no... Central America

We are preparing for our next destination:
Mongolia!
But in these days news coming from Ulaan Baatar (the capital city) are bad.
There have been clashese and disorder, following the recent general election in which
the ruling party claimed victory, while the opposition strongly accused the governament
of cheating on vote. Now the situation is getting better, and the government has lifted
emergency rule which was announced just a week ago. So we will wait a bit before
deciding what to do: to go or change our destination....
We have decided to go to Central America instead : Guatemala, Belize, San Salvador, Honduras,
Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama.

The Last King of Scotland

The Last King of Scotland
An outstanding performance, that of Forest Withaker, a great actor seen too many times in side characters. But, having seen him in movies like
La moglie del soldato and Ghost Dog , to me it was just a confirmation of his great acting and professionality. This man has learned to speak Swahili and talk like an east-african just to make his character more credible. Maybe the movie is all but perfect, but if you just re-watch the initial scene (the speech) or the scene in which Amin and Garrigan meet at the beginning you'll realize that once in a while the Oscar prize went to the right person..

where people struggle everyday to survive, still keeping its dignity and a deep umanity.

Una "maga", una donna legata al profondo sapere della terra, una madre.
Medea, non più brutale assassina dei suoi amati figli, non più simbolo di violenza irrazionale e
cieca. Medea raccontata come colei che svela i segreti orribili del palazzo e per questo deve pagare.

della civiltà greca. Sei sguardi che s'intrecciano, sei monologhi, per raccontare l'altra faccia della luna

altissimo livello per un disco sicuramente più commerciale rispetto alle sue ultime uscite, ma
decisamente affascinante e pregno di quegli umori che permeavano i suoi album migliori, da
Secrets of the Beehive a Dead Bees on a Cake.

of the Spotless Mind - L'eterno splendore della mente candida - è un film bellissimo sull'amore,
sulle incomprensioni del cuore, sulla memoria, sull'oblio. Un racconto visivamente complesso
che scorre veloce come un
fiume, semplicemente, e trova le sue anse limpide e tranquille, le sue
impetuosità, i suoi cupi anfratti. Una narrazione poetica e nuova, un impianto narrativo inedito,
una regia superba ed attori perfetti. Si capisce che ci è piaciuto?
Uscito in Italia nel 2004, Sceneggiato da Charlie Kaufmann (Essere John Malkovic, Il ladro di orchidee),
diretto da Michel Gondry, interpretato da Jim Carrey e Kate Winslet.
